Hithadhoo Unit

Established in 2010, the Hithadhoo Unit is one of MRC's most established Units serving Addu City - the country's second-largest urban area in the Maldives. For over a decade, the Unit has maintained a trusted and consistent presence that reflect the unique character and needs of Addu City

The Hithadhoo Unit operates in one of the most strategically significant locations in MRC's network. Addu City - the southernmost city in the Maldives and the regional hub for the south, encompassing Huvadhoo Atoll and Fuvamulah City. Addu is geographically unlike any other city in the country with Its islands connected by a network of causeways, forming a unique urban landscape that stretches across the atoll, while Hulhumedhoo remains a separate island within the same Atoll. Together, these islands are home to the Maldives' second largest population.

The Hithadhoo Unit's position at the heart of Addu city means its reach extends naturally across the entire atoll and beyond. It is not serving just one island. It is the humanitarian anchor for an entire connected community and the broader southern region that looks to Addu City as its centre. The Unit's signature Programmes reflect a Unit that is deeply embedded in its community reaching at-risk youth, supporting migrant communities, and investing in environmental stewardship alongside its core emergency response and health work.
