Building on ongoing national efforts and previous capacity-building initiatives, the session introduced committee members to the core components of Anticipatory Action, progress achieved to date in the Maldives, and the priority steps needed to integrate AA into national disaster governance systems. Discussions highlighted the importance of embedding early action protocols, strengthening cross-agency coordination, and aligning AA with broader disaster preparedness frameworks, including tsunami readiness efforts

Following the dialogue, the Steering Committee discussed several key action points for 2026, marking a significant step forward in strengthening the country’s anticipatory disaster management approach. These include:
Establishment of a Technical Working Group on Anticipatory Action.
Review and ndorsement of the Draft National Anticipatory Action Roadmap and Coordination Mechanism
Exploreing avenues for capacity-building and sensitization activities across sectors to strengthen national and local understanding of AA.
This policy dialogue further complements national efforts under the UNESCO-IOC Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme, reinforcing the linkages between early warning, early action, and coordinated preparedness across institutions
